While I like to admire the glittering lights of the Christmas tree and have been known to sip on the occasional glass of mulled wine, there's nothing like a lazy, sun-drenched day in warmer climes taking a splash in the pool and forgetting the awfulness of winter cold.
Take the family away from the dreary weather with a seven-night holiday for up to six people at the four-star Colina del Paraíso resort. Choose to stay in a luxury three-bedroom apartment for €519 (normally €1,057) or a luxury three-bedroom townhouse for €580 (normally €1,200).
Each residence sleeps up to six people comfortably and the deal works out at just over €10 per night per person providing exceptional value for money. Stay a second week for just €150 extra for the apartment (total price €669) or the townhouse for just €200 extra (total price €780).
Your package will also include a welcome pack on arrival, afternoon tea for up to six people in restaurant Angelica on one day, a late check out and a family pass to Selwo Safari park.
Colina del Paraíso is a modern, self-catering resort set in the hills of Benhavis (the culinary capital of Costa del Sol) offering peaceful tranquillity in a family friendly environment. It boasts a range of facilities including three swimming pools, driving range, fully equipped gym, games room, children's playground, free WiFi, mini market and the sublime bar and restaurant Angelica.
The first-rate accommodation offers everything that you need to make your stay comfortable including bright and spacious bedrooms, air-conditioning, wide screen TV, dish washer, laundry room and en suite bathrooms. If you opt to stay in a townhouse you'll get nifty little extras like a private rooftop terrace with a jacuzzi and outdoor fridge to keep your drinks cool.
Of course, the key to any great holiday is to experience as much as possible and Colina del Paraíso's location makes it the perfect base for exploring the best of what Costa del Sol has to offer with resorts like Marbella, Puerto Banús, San Pedro de Alcantara and Estepona just minutes away.
The complex is in close proximity to long stretches of shimmering coastline where you'll find beautiful, child friendly beaches. There are also plenty of water parks and amusement parks nearby as well as a choice of first-rate golf courses.
We recommend renting a car to make the most of your holiday. The resort is a 45-minute drive from Malaga Airport and you'll find daily flights to Malaga from both Dublin and Cork airports with Aer Lingus.
Limits: 2 for you and 4 as gifts.
"We stayed here at end of June 2011 in a townhouse and it was probably the best accomodation we have ever stayed in! Three spacious bedrooms with plenty of storage space, a roof terrace with views of the Med, and a well designed kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine.
The house is tiled in cream marble and is extremely comfortable. Staff in the complex are lovely and the setting is fabulous with great views of the coast and lovely greenery. It was fairly quiet when we were there and the pools were never overcrowded. There is a restaurant and bar on site, also with lovely staff. Could not recommend this place highly enough!"
